Join nowDiadem Flash is a very balanced monofilament with a round section and composed of co-polyester.
The Flash are available in white and have a wide range of sizes: 1.15, 1.20, 1.25, 1.30and 1.35 mm.
The price of a 12-meter reel is about 10 euros while the 200-meter reel is about 150 euros. The prices indicated are those displayed on the HMA Sport website, the Italian importer of the Diadem brand.
The Diadem Flash is an extremely balanced string, at least in the 1.25 and 1.30 mm gauges that we were able to test directly on court. It returns very good performance in almost all its features and especially in access to the rotations and in the power returned.
The spin generation is very generous, simple to obtain and just as easy to manage. The ball comes out of the stringbed with the right turns and the right “heaviness” without necessarily having to exasperate the technical gesture. The good power returned allow to find deep solutions and insidious trajectories in a simple and natural way. The Flash is a rather explosive string (especially in the measure 1.25) that returns an excellent dynamic response and a feeling to the touch decidedly “pasty”, especially if strung at low tensions, despite a stiffness that stands at medium values.
The control is good and is at very high levels in the 1.30 and 1.35 mm gauges. The progressive plasticization of the Flash transfers to the player the maximum confidence during the execution of the shots, allowing the player a “fluid” management of the rallies.
The comfort is more than satisfactory (at least up to caliber 1.25) if we consider the competitive nature and the average stiffness of the string. The life cycle of the string is in the average of the segment and is around 10 hours of play while maintaining excellent levels of performance.
As mentioned above, the Diadem Flash returns excellent performance in almost all its features. Perhaps the only “flaw” of the string resides in the dynamic tension that causes a marked decline in performance after the 12th hour of play, threshold beyond which it is advisable (but this is generally true for all polyester mono) to replace the stringing.
The Diadem Flash is the typical all-around string that is appreciated by almost all types of tennis players (given the variety of gauges available) and is suitable for many frames and stringbeds. Good both for modern players all spin and power for the more “classic” players and with a game “flat” or just slightly covered.
It also lends itself very well to the creation of hybrid strings. I liked it both in combination with more rigid mono (for example Infinite Flash Red) for a purely competitive setup and hybridized mono soft (such as Diadem Evolution) or multifilament (Head Velocity or StringLab Top One) for a result more “human” and comfortable.
The tests were performed by stringing the Diadem Flash on:
The Diadem Flash is an extremely balanced all-around monofilament with strong spin and power feedback. Good control and comfort.
It is appreciated by almost all types of tennis players and adapts naturally to many frames and cymbals thanks to the number of gauges available. Very versatile also in hybrid solutions.
We thank HMA Sport (in the person of Marco Chivilò) for the concession of the strings that we used in our tests.
