Kirschbaum Pro Line II Rough

Kirschbaum brand needs no presentation!
A top quality string maker from years creates new strings in the groove of tradition but at the same time with a strong innovation and creativity feeling.

We’re going to test the new monofilament Pro Line II Rough, the structured, roughened version of the modern classic pro line II poly string, well known from tons of players and stringers.

In this case for our test we choose the 1.25mm gauge, the most famous and used but don’t forget the sting is also available also in 1.20mm and 1.30mm gauge that let you choose by your need.

On court

The static traction test from 5 to 35kg put in evidence a linear constant behavior due to the quality of the co-polyester who is characterized by a medium stiffness value (0.75kg/mm).

The dynamic stiffness, measure of comfort and soft impact on the arm during the play, is quite high with used string: 225-230g/mm -> 220-225lb/inch.
The value is not low but not so high to compromise the overall comfort given by the combination of static and dynamic stiffness.

Power perception is good due to the string soft feeling and also due to the good reactivity of the string.
Also the reactivity perception is good even if we’re not talking about a nervous explosive string but rather a string who returns power in a very progressive way reminding what we define “slingshot effect”.

The topspin performance is very good thanks to the resilience-reactivity, to the ball pocketing and to the structured and roughened finish which ensures an excellent snap back with strong string deflection and fast return of the string.

The control level is high due to the progressive plasticization, to the ball pocketing and to the soft feeling that let you feel like touching the ball.
The global feeling and contact sensation with the ball is absolutely remarkable, letting the player control the play, the trajectories and the speed variations.

Hysteresis test with load-unload cycles shows good performance in static tension maintenance and average rate in dynamic stability.
The strings, due to the finish and the medium-soft material, loses a bit tension in the first two hours, settles, aligns molecular chains and becomes stiffer and less reactive but remaining very playable until the 8-10 hours of play.

To conclude

A very versatile string for a wide range of tennis players, going from intermediate to advanced players, from advanced young player with good shots and technique to male/female professionals.
