Infinite Flash Red

Flash Red is one of the most competitive monofilaments offered by the Infinitebrand.

The string is part of the Alfa series by Infinite, is made of co-polyester and has a special external coating that gives it a particular reactivity when mounted at low-medium tensions.

It has a round section, a fiery red colour and a gauge of 1.25 mm.

The approximate cost of a 200-meter reel is about 110 euros while for the single 12-meter reel the cost is about 11 euros.

On court – The pros

The Infinite Flash Red is a fairly balanced string in its characteristics that stands out for control and spin. It’s a monofilament intended for a competitive audience looking for “heavy” shots but under control. The excellent grip of the rotations allows the generation of very heavy shots and difficult to manage by the opponent … provided you know how to trigger properly the Flash Red. The control is favored by the progressive plasticization that transfers to the player the maximum confidence in the execution of the shots.

The returned power is not free but abundant if the string is triggered by fluid and decisive strokes. Thanks to the excellent control, the Flash Red allows you to enter the full arm and impact the ball with violence easily finding a good depth of play.

It also has good levels of tension that allows the Flash Red to remain playable for about 10 hours.

On court – The cons

The comfort, being a monofilament intended for a competitive audience, is not very high. The Flash Red is a “tough” string with rather high stiffness and is designed for well-trained arms that know how to stress it properly.

Who it is indicated for

The Flash Red is a perfect string for the big modern hitters who make spins the focus of their game. When mounted on profiled frames and with an “open” string pattern, it becomes a real “spin machine”, always under control.

In hybrid it becomes more “human” and playable. When mounted on the vertical in combination with a reactive multifilament allows you to have a flat strings not too rigid but with excellent control and spin skills, also gaining something in comfort. Excellent sensations also in reverse version where you can take full advantage of the excellent attitude of control of the Flash Red.

Testing setups

The tests were performed by stringing the Infinite Flash Red on:

  • Donnay Formula 100 Hexacore (pulled to 21kg)
  • Donnay Formula 100 Hexacore (hybrid with mains Flash Red pulled to 21 kg / crosses Head Velocity 130 pulled to 21 kg)
  • Donnay Formula 100 Hexacore (hybrid with mains Head Velocity 130 pulled at 22.5 kg / crosses Flash Red pulled at 21 kg)
  • Wilson Blade 98 16×19 (pulled to 19kg)

To conclude

The Infinite Flash Red is a balanced spin and control oriented monofilament string designed for a competitive audience. To be “triggered” it requires powerful and decisive strokes.

Excellent in both fullbed and hybrid for those looking for a versatile competitive string that can increase the control of your stringbed.

We thank HMA Sport (in the person of Marco Chivilò) for the concession of the strings that we used in our tests.
