Gamma Jet

The Gamma Jet is a polyester monofilament with a twisted profile and a structured surface.

It is available in blackelectric blue and lime and in gauges 1.141.221.28 mm.

The price? About 10 euros for the 12-metre reel and 100 euros for the 200-metre reel. The prices indicated are those displayed directly on the Gamma Italia website.

On court – The pros

The Gamma Jet is a fairly balanced string with a natural attitude to spin generation. Access to the rotations is guaranteed by the twisted profile and the structured surface of the string that allows excellent grip on the ball. The snapback effect is very good, increasing the number of rotations and the “heaviness” of the ball.

The power returned and the control are also at good levels. The power perceived during the shot is good and the response of the stringbed is elastic and reactive. The result is a good “free” depth of ball that allows you to manage the rallies from the bottom with naturalness and effectiveness. Good feeling of control favored by the progressive plasticization of the string that transfers to the player the maximum confidence during the execution of the shots.

The stringbed is elastic and lively, guaranteeing not only a high level of comfort but also an impact with the “pasty” and “full” ball. The string also has a relatively low stiffness that increases comfort and allows you to keep the stringbed nice reactive especially if you maintain tensions of stringing medium-low (21 – 24 kg).

On court – The cons

As mentioned above, the Gamma Jet is a balanced string that stands at good levels in all its characteristics. The only small flaw found is the tension hold. The elasticity and the relatively low stiffness of the Jet slightly penalize the string causing a decay in performance after the eighth hour of play.

Who it is indicated for

The Jet is a versatile string that adapts to different types of tennis players.

String recommended mainly for club players. Excellent for a game “rolled up”, or otherwise covered, which allows you to make the most of the ability to spin and power of the string.

Testing setups

The tests were performed by stringing the Gamma Jet on:

  • Donnay Formula 100 Hexacore (gauge 1.22 pulled to 21kg)
  • Wilson Blade 104 custom (gauge 1.22 pulled to 21 kg)
  • Wilson Blade 104 custom (gauge 1.28 pulled to 20 kg)

To conclude

The Gamma Jet is a balanced monofilament that adapts to many types of tennis players. Good power generation and spin. Good levels of control also returned. Soft and elastic, it has a life cycle of about 8 hours.

We thank Gamma Italia for the concession of the strings we used in our tests.
