Top One is a multifilament string by StringLab, an Italian brand specializing in the production and marketing of material for tennis.
The string is composed of a core of macrofilament nylon wrapped in over 200 microfilaments of polyamide. The structure is completed by an external covering with low abrasion in polymer resin that reinforces the string, increasing its life cycle and improving its tension resistance.
The Top One has a circular section and is distributed with 1.30 mm gauge and in natural, black, blue and yellow colours.
The price is very competitive: about 5 euros for the 12-meter reel and 60 euros for the 200-meter reel. The prices indicated are those displayed directly on the website StringLab.
The StringLab Top One is a very comfortable modern multifilament that returns an excellent peak resilience and a high level of perceived power. It is a very lively, elastic and extremely reactive string that guarantees excellent levels of power without necessarily having to exasperate the shots. The trajectories generated are deep and are obtained with simplicity and naturalness. The impact is always “soft” and “pasty” as long as it does not exceed the applied tension (approximately between 18 and 24 kg to take full advantage of the characteristics of the string). The structure and materials that make up the string also ensure a high feeling of comfort which translates into less stress for the muscles and joints of the arm.
The tension holding, both static and dynamic, is at very high levels, allowing the Top One to theoretically maintain its characteristics intact until the mechanical breakage of the string. The advice is not to exceed and “refresh” the string after about 30 hours of play.
The control is in the average of the category. It is obviously not at the level of a monofilament but if you have good technique the control returned from Top One is more than enough.
As with most multifilaments, Top One’s ability to generate spin is not exactly a strength. Access to spin is not immediate but, with a good arm and strong movements, not even prohibitive. Obviously the results obtained will be difficult to compare to those derived from the use of a monofilament.
As mentioned in the previous chapter, the tension holding is at very high levels. That said, the “risk” of mechanical breakage of the string is quite high compared to a mono. Multi in fact tend to deteriorate quite quickly because of the friction generated by the rubbing of the verticals on the horizontal.
Another “negative” aspect that the Top One has in common with most multi is the shifting of the strings. Compared to mono strings, multifilaments tend to move more and not return to their original position. This is not a real problem but this behavior is not well tolerated by most tennis players.
The Top One is a “universal” string that could be used by all types of tennis players.
Its only limitation lies in its mechanical durability, which is rather limited when compared to a mono. However, it must be said that at certain more “amateur” levels, and in the absence of frequent breakage problems, the Top One is preferable to the mono.
It is an excellent string for the junior and senior categories as it gives boost without stressing the joints of the arm. The string maintains its characteristics intact throughout its life cycle without becoming harmful to the arm.
Excellent when mounted in a hybrid to give liveliness and responsiveness to the stringbed. A hybrid solution will allow you to combine the qualities of spin and control of a mono to the comfort and liveliness typical of the Top One.

It is a “universal” string that can be used by all types of tennis players. It is very suitable for the junior and senior categories because it gives thrust without stressing the joints of the arm.
Excellent when mounted in a hybrid solution with a mono control and spin where the Top One gives comfort and liveliness to the stringbed.
